Chaplet of the Precious Blood

About the Chaplet of the Precious Blood

This devotion consists of seven mysteries in which we meditate on the seven principal sheddings of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus. The Our Father is said five times after each mystery, except the last, when it is said three times, in all, the Our Father is said thirty-three times in honor of the thirty-three years of Our Lord’s life on earth.

Chaplet of the Precious Blood

L. O God, come to my assistance.

 R. O Lord, make haste to help me.

L. Glory be to the Father ...

 R. As it was in the beginning ...

FIRST MYSTERY: THE CIRCUMCISION OF JESUS

"When the eighth day arrived for his circumcision, the name Jesus was given the child." (Lk. 2:21) (The biblical readings given here are to be considered examples which can be substituted by others.)

Pray 5 Our Fathers ...

Pray 1 Glory be to the Father ...

Then the invocation:

L. We beseech you, therefore, help your servants.

 R. Whom you have redeemed by your Precious Blood.

SECOND MYSTERY: THE AGONY IN THE GARDEN

"In his anguish he prayed with all the greater intensity, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground." (Lk. 22:44)

Pray 5 Our Fathers ...

Pray 1 Glory be to the Father ...

Then the invocation:

L. We beseech you, therefore, help your servants.

 R. Whom you have redeemed by your Precious Blood.

THIRD MYSTERY: THE SCOURGING AT THE PILLAR

"At that, he released Barabbas to them. Jesus, however, he first had scourged." (Mt. 27:26)

Pray 5 Our Fathers ...

Pray 1 Glory be to the Father ...

Then the invocation:

L. We beseech you, therefore, help your servants.

 R. Whom you have redeemed by your Precious Blood.

FOURTH MYSTERY: THE CROWNING WITH THORNS

"They stripped off his clothes and wrapped him in a scarlet military cloak. Weaving a crown out of thorns they fixed it on his head." (Mt. 27:28-29)

Pray 5 Our Fathers ...

Pray 1 Glory be to the Father ...

Then the invocation:

L. We beseech you, therefore, help your servants.

R. Whom you have redeemed by your Precious Blood.

FIFTH MYSTERY: THE CARRYING OF THE CROSS

"In the end, Pilate handed Jesus over to be crucified. Jesus was led away, and carrying the cross by himself, went out to what is called the Place of the Skull." (Jn. 19:16-17)

Pray 5 Our Fathers ...

Pray 1 Glory be to the Father ...

Then the invocation:

L. We beseech you, therefore, help your servants.

SIXTH MYSTERY: THE CRUCIFIXION ON CALVARY

Let us pray:

Almighty and Eternal God, you have appointed your only-begotten Son the Redeemer of the world, and willed to be appeased by his Blood. Grant, we beg of you, that we may worthily adore this price of our salvation, and through its power be safeguarded from the evils of this present life, so that we may rejoice in its fruits forever in heaven. Through the same Christ our Lord. Ame

Litany of the Most Precious Blood

Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us; Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us.

God, the Father of heaven,
    Have mercy on us.
God, the Son, Redeemer of the world,
God, the Holy Spirit,
Holy Trinity, One God,

Blood of Christ, only-begotten Son of the Eternal Father,
    Save us.
Blood of Christ, Incarnate Word of God,
Blood of Christ, of the New and Eternal Testament,
Blood of Christ, falling upon the earth in the Agony,
Blood of Christ, shed profusely in the Scourging,
Blood of Christ, flowing forth in the Crowning with Thorns,
Blood of Christ, poured out on the Cross,
Blood of Christ, price of our salvation,
Blood of Christ, without which there is no forgiveness,
Blood of Christ, Eucharistic drink and refreshment of souls,
Blood of Christ, stream of mercy,
Blood of Christ, victor over demons,
Blood of Christ, courage of martyrs,
Blood of Christ, strength of confessors,
Blood of Christ, bringing forth virgins,
Blood of Christ, help of those in peril,
Blood of Christ, relief of the burdened,
Blood of Christ, solace in sorrow,
Blood of Christ, hope of the penitent,
Blood of Christ, consolation of the dying,
Blood of Christ, peace and tenderness of hearts,
Blood of Christ, pledge of eternal life,
Blood of Christ, freeing souls from purgatory,
Blood of Christ, most worthy of all glory and honor,

Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world,
    Spare us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world,
    Graciously hear us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world,
    Have mercy on us.

L. You have redeemed us, O Lord, in your Blood.
R. And made us, for our God, a kingdom.

Amen.

Gethsemane acording to the Gospel writers: Matthew 26: 36-56, Mark 14:32-52, Luke 22:40-53 John 18:1-11

Gethsemane (Mount of Olives in Jerusalem) Place where Our Lord went to pray and where he was arrested, after Our Lord and The disciples had celebrated the Passover.  Peter, James and John were asked to watch with Him and pray so they would not fall into temptation Matthew 26:41; but they fell asleep.

Jesus was sorroful unto death, so The Father sent an angel to strengthen Him Luke 22-43.

Judas Iscariot came and with a kiss, gave Jesus to the soldiers whom arrested Him. Our Lord willingness to pay the penalty for our sins, made Jesus... He who had no sin, but en perfect Holiness was treated as we the sinners should of have been treated, 2 Corinthians.
